What is Surf Life Saving?
Surf Life Saving (interpreted literally) is the act of saving a person’s life from the surf. However, Surf Life Saving should never be defined so narrowly. There is no simple definition of Surf Life Saving. The following description is the best we can offer those of you who have never been able to identify the safest place to swim at the beach; to those who have never been confident of their ability to save a life, should the time come; to those who have always wanted to learn more about first aid (but couldn’t afford it); to those who have never seen the ocean reflectively still during a morning training session; to those who are interested in radio operations, but don’t quite know where to start; to those who have stood on the beach and wished for a chance to drive the zippy little red boats.
