2XU Ocean Water Championships Swim Series Latest information in the Newsroom regarding the exciting Ocean Swim series A summer of Open Water Swimming hosted by Surf Life Saving Tasmania and Affiliated Clubs Sponsored by 2XU and Canoe’nSurf Experience the thrill and sensation of ocean swimming, one of the fastest growing sports for the elite athlete and recreational swimmers. The events are conducted at venues all around the state. Devil of a Swim – Bicheno 4th April 2010 Waubs Bay beach. Start 11am Easter Sunday
A scary stretch of water to swim over in the 5km event, but paddlers and boats will support swimmers. 1km and 2km event is swum around a triangular course in Waubs Bay, close to the shore, away from moored boats - also supported with water safety crew. These are very good swims to do as a ‘first’ ocean swim, or as a fitness challenge with a group. Along the way there are 3 places with items stashed, that need to be identified from the ‘10 things what‘s there?’ chart. This is an ocean swimming event with a difference:

The 1.2 km swim at the legendary food and wine festival at Princess Wharf attracts ex-pat Tasmanians and overseas swimmers visiting Hobart for the summer festival. Cheered on by the large crowds of spectators, this is a swim not to be missed. Penguin Island Swim at Port Sorell on Sunday 3rd January is a unique event crossing the estuary to Penguin Island and return. Port Sorell is a popular holiday spot and attracts local recreational swimmers and the elite athletes chasing a series win. Swim distance of approximately two kilometers. Kingston Beach Australia Day Swim in the tranquil waters of the lower Derwent River conducted as part of Australia Day celebrations and the love of aquatic sports. Swim distances between 300m and 2 kilometers catering for all ages and capabilities. Devonport Bluff Swim has been conducted since the 1960’s at various locations around the Devonport waterfront. Race 4 of the 2XU Series and supporting swims in this picturesque coastal town will be conducted on Saturday 13th February. Carlton Park Clear Water Classic is the final race of the 2XU Series and will be held on March 8th. This long running event caters for swimmers of all ages and experiences with the 2 kilometer Championship swim conducted over two loops of a diamond shape course. Surf conditions can often determine the race winner but there is always plenty of water safety on hand to assist the less experienced. Premiership Series The Priemiership Series will see Tasmanias' top open water swimmers competing over the 5 race series for points which will determine the overall winners by gender and age categories. Winners of thier category will recieve a $500 voucher from our sponsors 2XU. Spot prizes made available from Canoe 'n' Surf who also are a supplier of 2XU wetsuits. Premiership Series |
