Dolphin Surf Craft have again kindly offered to sponsor a new custom built single surf ski to the value of $3,000. Dolphin have also contributed over 50% of the cost of a new board and a supporting sponsor is currently being sought                                                                                                                                       

Surf Life Saving Tasmania Surf Sports Committee appreciates the contribution made by all of our sponsors but in particular the ongoing support provided by Dolphin Surf Craft.

With this in mind the 2009 series will:  

• Provide all sponsors with the best value for their sponsorship dollars
• Encourage participation in all state wide endurance races
• Facilitate a performance based formula whilst allowing all participants the opportunity to win the great prizes on offer . 

Points Score Criteria for Dolphin Surf Craft Endurance Series

Age categories to be consistent for all endurance series.

Minimum of 3 starters for the event to be eligible otherwise age groups collapsed.

Three bonus points allocated to all paddlers who “travel” to an event.

For the purpose of this rule travel will mean north to south (vice versa) and east coast.

Point of “residence” determined by the location of the athlete’s club.

Must be a surf life saving member participating on an approved SLSA ski or board.

Must participate in 4 of the 5 races of the ski series and 2 of 3 races in the Board Marathon Series.

One marble be awarded for each point eared and a random draw to determine winner.

To be eligible the competitor must be present at the draw to be conducted at the conclusion of the Surf Safari.

State Endurance Championship medals to be awarded on the series results and not just the Mercury Surf Safari.  

Croker Oars Surf Boat Endurance Series                                      

Croker Oars have generously come onboard for a second year to sponsor the Croker Oars Surf Boat Endurance Series for 2009-10.  The Golden Sweep Oar will be drawn at the culmination of the 41st Annual Surf Safari. A ticket will be awarded to each crew for every event entered in the 5 race series.

FENN Multisport Ski Challenge                                                                                         

Dean Gardiner of Ocean Paddler, the Australian distributor of FENN Skis, is sponsoring two paddles for participants in the Multisport section.

This section is open to the general public paddling craft that are suitable in the prevailing conditions on race day. 21 footers, down river bats and sea kayaks welcome.

One paddle will be made available as a random draw of all Multisport paddlers at Race 2 at Lauderdale

The other paddle will be awarded to the points score series winner with the points score applying as for the Dolphin Series.

A REMINDER THAT ALL MULTISPORT PADDLERS MUST WEAR A PFD

Canoe n’ Surf novice paddler award and spot prizes                                                             

John van der Woude of Canoe n’ Surf is sponsoring a paddle as a random draw for paddlers who finish in the bottom 20% of the series points. This is definitely an encouragement award that recognizes those who may not be in the top layer of competitors. Dolphin point score and criteria to apply.

In addition Canoe n’ Surf will provide one x $100 voucher as a random draw for all competitors at each round of the series.
