Hydro Tasmania Surf Skills Camps 2009-10

Hydro Tasmania has been a fantastic partner and sponsor of Surf Life Saving in Tasmania for 5 years now.  Their support in the Hydro Tasmania Surf Skills Camps and Hydro Tasmania Junior Lifesaver of the Year enables us to develop and foster new surf lifesavers who will be the next generation volunteering to patrol and keep Tasmanian beaches safe.

The outcomes of the Hydro Tasmania Surf Skills camps over the past 5 years has resulted in; 

• A fantastic legacy building program for surf lifesaving from Hydro Tasmania in developing and retaining future surf lifesavers.
• Members have gained skills and confidence in water, beach and board activities.  These will benefit them in recreating in the aquatic environment, competition and later as lifesavers providing patrols for the Tasmanian Community.
• A forum for Surf Life Saving Tasmania coaches to discuss training and view the Dolphin team in action.
• Educating participants on the value of living an active lifestyle and healthy nutrition for later life.
• The intangible benefit of friendships that have developed.  Participants make numerous friends from other surf life saving clubs and we have seen this bond grow over the years.
• A great tool to assist with recruitment and retention of members into Surf Life Saving building a sustainable future and legacy for the provision of lifesaving services to the Tasmanian Community. 
• In 3 years Surf Life Saving Tasmania has grown from 1,900 member to over 3,000.  One of the contributing factors is programs such as the Hydro Tasmania Surf Skills camps.

This years Hydro Tasmania Surf Skills Camps will be hosted by Ulverstone SLSC in the north and Carlton Park SLSC in the south.
